Microneedling Rejuvenation

October 08 2021

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the skin by making hundreds, or even thousands, of small wounds with sterilized needles. The aestheticians at Vistoso Med Spa in Toronto regularly use this minimally invasive technique to rejuvenate skin.

How Does Miccroneedling Work?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, makes tiny tears in your skin. These small wounds stimulate your body's healing mechanisms to produce collagen and elastin. These proteins improve skin elasticity and can fill in small lines and wrinkles.

What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?
- Microneedling can improve your skin's condition in many ways:- Fill in fine lines and wrinkles- Minimize scars (including acne damage)
- Help fade hyperpigmentation (dark patches on the skin)
- Reduce large pores
- Improves elasticity of the skin
- Repair sun damage
- Stimulate hair growth on the scalp

Many Vistoso clients use microneedling as an alternative to laser therapy, which can cost up to four times more. Collagen induction therapy also may be more effective for patients with dark skin because it doesn't heat the skin like laser treatments. Most of our clients use microneedling on the face, but it can also improve the skin on any area of your body.

What Happens During Microneedling
Our technician will first cover your face with a numbing cream. Then he or she will use either a rolling tool with tiny needles to penetrate your skin, which can cause a bit of bleeding. But do not worry as we sterilize our tools according to standards. A typical microneedling therapy session will last 10 to 20 minutes.

Risks of Microneedling
Like any medical procedure, microneedling does involve some risks, including:- Infection- Skin discoloration
- Mild pain

Infection risk is minimized by using sterilizing the rolling tool before use and keeping the area clean after the procedure. Though the numbing cream usually eliminates pain during the session, your skin can feel sore and red for a few days afterward. Skin discoloration after microneedling is usually temporary.
